Plumbing, hair styling and interior design; these are just three of the 14 workshops that more than 250 students attended on April 30 at the Business and Education Partnership’s (BEP) ZOOM into the Workplace event at Conestoga College.

Students, teachers and workshop presenters alike all had an amazing day at the BEP’s biggest event, which is aimed at students gearing up to head into the workplace right after high school.

“This was an overall amazing experience and something that I will never forget. I will recommend that if anyone gets the chance to attend this event that they take it. Thanks for this opportunity.” One student wrote in their survey.

“The two seminars that I attended were presented so appropriately. I have already referred a student to contact the Puppy Power presenter to find out more about dog training. The day was very well organized. It all worked out in the end to have students attend the session that they liked and they were very happy about the event on the bus ride home.” said a teacher from Resurrection Catholic Secondary School.

One workshop presenter commented “Good organization of the day. I enjoyed the opportunity to speak to students and hopefully made an impression.”

The BEP works with Conestoga College Career Centre, Cambridge Career Connections and Lutherwood, along with the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Region Catholic District School Board, to host the event.

The BEP is thrilled with the success of ZOOM into the Workplace and looks forward to showcasing more careers to all students across Waterloo Region in 2014-2015.
