This video features Catalyst137, 475,000 square feet of repurposed industrial space on Kitchener’s Glasgow Street. It has been transformed from a former tire and footwear warehouse into the largest facility for development and manufacturing of Internet of Things hardware in the world.
Capable of accommodating 2,000 employees, Catalyst137 is 75 per cent leased, with companies like Toyota, Sigmapoint, Swift Labs, and even Kik, the Waterloo-based messaging app and cryptocurrency company, taking space. They join anchor tenant Miovision, whose CEO, Kurtis McBride, played a lead role in developing Catalyst137.
The facility additionally features a 7,000-square-foot event area in the front lobby which is free for the broader community to book, with the aim of giving Waterloo Region’s tech and arts players an opportunity to mingle.
