Scout Public Affairs Inc., an agency recently forged by corporate communications experts, Crystal Roberts and Faye Roberts, is sharing years of experience in government relations to help mid-sized enterprises in Waterloo Region navigate the 2015 federal election with confidence.

“Most businesses think government relations is something they’ll do when they get ‘bigger’ or have a regulatory issue they need help with down the road, but this way of thinking is short-sighted,” said Faye Roberts, co-founder of Scout Public Affairs. “Government can be an important partner, helping you find new customers and overcome challenges, and even advocate for your business. But these outcomes are only possible if you have a relationship - and the sooner you establish key government relationships the better.”

Scout Public Affairs is creating a series of blog posts to share government relations basics and business best practices for this critical time before, during and after the Federal Election. Scout’s blogs will also be featured on Communitech News every Tuesday starting June 23 through to the election on October 19.

“Our goal is to answer the simple questions businesses may have about the election like, ‘what if a candidate wants to host an event at my office?’ or ‘what can or should I say to employees about the election?’” explains Faye Roberts. “We also want to help businesses recognize and seize the opportunities that arise through engaging with government even in a small way.”

Canadians will go to the polls on Oct. 19, 2015 to choose their next government in the 2015 federal election. The political season has started and over the course of the summer, it’s likely to speed up. Party platforms are being released and candidates from all parties have begun travelling the country, meeting with constituents and businesses to ready themselves for the vote this fall.
