ODX goes Cross-Canada to strengthen open data marriage

On Monday, February 27, 2017 Canada's Open Data Exchange (ODX) will be kicking off the Maritime portion of our cross-Canada trip. We will be visiting Moncton and Halifax to learn about how data-enabled companies and municipalities are taking advantage of opportunities around open data. Our research will involve interviews with municipal data managers in the morning, and roundtable discussions with data-enabled companies in the afternoon.

With the results of our countrywide tour, ODX will create a blueprint that highlights how municipalities have successfully implemented open data strategies which maximize the value users get from data sets. ODX will specifically focus on how data managers integrate the needs of companies into their decision-making process.

Our long-term goals are to be a catalyst for:

    • More data sets that demonstrate commercial potential.

    • Better data quality.

    • Common data standards across jurisdictions.

    • Better communication between data managers and data-enabled companies.

    • Peer learning among data-enabled companies.

If you are a data-enabled company interested in attending an afternoon roundtable, please contact us with your company affiliation and desired roundtable location.

Make sure you register for the ODX newsletter as we will be announcing roundtable dates for Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver in the coming weeks.
