GUELPH, ON, November 26, 2018 – For the fourth consecutive year, OCAS – a not-for-profit organization with 83 employees - has been named one of Waterloo Area’s Top Employers. The annual competition, organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, recognizes employers in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph who lead their industries in offering exceptional work environments.
“We’re honoured to have been selected as one of the top employers in the Waterloo region for the fourth year in a row,” says Karen Creditor, President and CEO of OCAS. “I’m often heard talking about how amazing our employees are, and this award recognizes that. We wouldn’t be able to deliver the high-quality tools, technology and support we do today without the people behind them. As our organization continues to evolve, expand and grow with the changing higher education landscape, we’ve worked together to innovate, take measured risks and tackle tough challenges that have made both us and the college system stronger.”
OCAS, which stands for Ontario College Application Service, helps potential students learn about and apply to Ontario's colleges.
For the award, companies were evaluated based on the same eight standards as the national competition: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social activities; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
“We’re really proud of the unique corporate culture we’ve been able to foster within our organization,” said David Hong, Director, Customer and Employee Services at OCAS. “Our fun-loving nature plays a big part in this, as it helps us build the trust and collaboration that fuels our teams as we work in our day-to-day and on new and challenging initiatives. Maintaining this balance of “fun” and “effective” has become one of our organization’s core mandates, and has been key to our continued success.”
This year’s winners were announced in a special feature in the Waterloo Region Record on Saturday, Nov. 24, and will also be featured in the Guelph Mercury-Tribune and the Cambridge Times on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
