The good news continues to pile up for I Think Security, a startup based in Waterloo’s Accelerator Centre whose easy-to-use USB encryption device is gaining attention around the world.
The device, called QI (pronounced: key), won the OmniCompete Cyber Security Challenge in London, UK, making I Think Security the first Canadian company to win the title.
The QI plugs into any computer and enables users to secure their data under a bubble of encryption in three clicks. It is not a storage device, so no sensitive information remains on it, and it can be deployed easily over top of existing systems.
The $10,000 award from OmniCompete is the latest win for company founder Cedric Jeannot, whom Communitech profiled in August. Jeannot made a successful appearance on the Business News Network’s show, The Pitch, and a second product, called Qloud, has yet to be penetrated by hackers whom Jeannot recently challenged at an event in New York City.
