"Waterloo, Ontario, Canada — IMS (Insurance & Mobility Solutions), part of Trak Global Group (TGG) and one of the world’s top three providers of connected car data solutions to insurers, mobility operators, OEMs, and governments, is pleased to announce that on the heels of recent award wins, partnerships, and customer wins, the company is launching a recruitment drive that could effectively double the number of employees based out of its North American office in Waterloo by the end of 2021.

“As more insurers adopt usage-based insurance (UBI), incorporate telematics into claims transformation initiatives, and attitudes around car and alternative mobility usage change, our hiring push will ensure that IMS is poised to provide the technology solutions and services that are needed as the ‘new normal’ materializes post-COVID,” said Nino Tarantino, CEO of IMS (Americas) and leader of the Waterloo-based North American office.

Since the onset of the pandemic, through the analysis of billions of telematics data points, IMS has seen a significant shift in consumer behaviours related to mobility and, consequently, rapid acceleration of its customers’ digital transformation initiatives. Within insurance, more insurers are introducing “pay-as-you-drive” programs to fulfill heightened customer demand for more flexible, low-mileage vehicle use, while mobility fleet operators are increasing connectivity in order to optimize utilization and better understand new usage patterns.

“We already have many world-class software engineers, data scientists, and IoT experts within the global IMS team, but our intent to stay ahead means we need to add further talent to our ranks,” said Tarantino. “We’re looking for people at the top of their game who can help us push technology boundaries and deliver outcomes that make mobility safer, smarter, and fairer for everybody.”

IMS is hiring immediately for multiple positions, equivalent to approximately a 20-per-cent increase of its current global workforce or double the size of the current workforce of 70 based out of Waterloo. All of the positions are designated to be remote/work-from-home (WFH), and are largely focused on senior research and development (R&D) roles, such as:

    • Software Developers

    • Engineering Managers

    • Product Owners

    • Project Managers

    • IT and Infrastructure



As IMS realizes growth from the recently launched IMS Connected Claims solution and the introduction of the Carrot UBI platform in the North American market, additional jobs are expected to be created local to the company’s North American headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario.
